Oregon has recorded a rise in “assisted suicide” deaths since the Democrat-controlled state passed laws to legalize lethal injections.

More people are now being killed with legally prescribed drugs under Oregon’s so-called “Death with Dignity Act.”

New data shows a steady rise in both prescriptions and deaths tied to the controversial program.

According to the Oregon Health Authority, “The number of prescriptions written for lethal medications increased about 5%, from 609 to 637” between 2024 and 2025.

The agency’s latest annual report also confirmed that deaths have consistently increased since assisted suicide was legalized in 1998, even though not every prescription results in a fatal outcome.

State Data Shows Long-Term Upward Trend

Officials acknowledged that the overall trajectory continues to move in one direction.

“Numbers of deaths from ingesting lethal doses of [assisted suicide] drugs also have stayed on an upward trajectory since Oregon began reporting data on participation in the Act in 1998,” the report states.

Tom Jeanne, deputy state health officer, confirmed the trend in a public statement, saying:

“What we’ve been seeing over the last several years is a steady overall increase in prescriptions and deaths among Death with Dignity Act participants.”

Recipients of the drugs most commonly cited “loss of autonomy (89%), decreasing ability to participate in activities that made life enjoyable (89%), and loss of dignity (65%)” as reasons for choosing to end their lives.

State data from 2024 also show that all recipients had insurance coverage, with cancer listed as the most common diagnosis.

Critics Warn of Lack of Safeguards and Mental Health Oversight

Pro-life advocates are raising alarms about what they describe as insufficient safeguards, particularly regarding mental health evaluations.

Lois Anderson, executive director of Oregon Right to Life, criticized the rising numbers and the state’s approach.

“Once again, Oregon’s assisted suicide report shows that prescriptions of death-inducing drugs are tragically on the rise,” Anderson said.

“Last year – instead of being cared for and supported, assured that their lives have inherent value and meaning – 637 vulnerable people were prescribed drugs intended to cause their deaths.”

The group also highlighted what it described as a critical gap in oversight, noting that “[o]nly two patients were referred for psychological or psychiatric evaluation.

“Three had been referred for evaluation in 2024.”

Anderson called the figures “deeply concerning,” adding:

“A patient’s request for suicide should always trigger a thorough mental health analysis.”

Anderson argues it is “unconscionable” that “vulnerable patients” were not given what she described as “basic support.”

Oregon Emerges as Destination for Assisted Suicide

At the same time, Oregon has expanded access to the program beyond its own residents, drawing increased scrutiny.

Following a 2023 decision by Democrat Gov. Tina Kotek to remove the state’s residency requirement, out-of-state participation has grown.

According to Oregon Right to Life, “37 people from outside Oregon received [assisted suicide] prescriptions in 2025, representing 6% of the total and an increase from 24 (4%) in 2024.”

Since the law was enacted in 1998, nearly 3,700 people have died after taking the prescribed drugs, based on state figures.

Critics argue the trend reflects a broader pattern seen both in the United States and internationally, where concerns have been raised about potential abuse.

Reports have cited cases in which government-backed healthcare systems covered assisted suicide while declining to fund certain treatments, as well as controversial incidents abroad involving non-terminal patients being offered the option.

The issue has also drawn renewed attention following comments from the late “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams.

Adams previously supported assisted suicide.

However, he reconsidered after facing a serious cancer diagnosis and weighing the physical realities involved.

Kentucky has passed sweeping new protections around organ donation after Gov. Andy Beshear signed a new bill into law, which prevents patients from being harvested when they show “signs of life.”

The legislation, HB 510, requires medical teams to immediately halt organ harvesting procedures if any signs of life are detected.

The new law follows a disturbing case that raised serious concerns about how “brain death” is determined and whether some patients may still be alive when organ harvesting begins.

Case Sparks National Alarm

The law was prompted by the 2021 case of TJ Hoover, a man declared “brain dead” who began showing clear signs of life just before his organs were set to be removed.

According to testimony, Hoover opened his eyes, looked around, and later thrashed and cried while being wheeled into the operating room.

His family was told these movements were merely “reflexes.”

Even more alarming, whistleblowers revealed that after two doctors refused to proceed with organ removal, the procurement team allegedly sought out another physician to continue the procedure.

At this point, Hoover was screaming for help.

The operation was ultimately called off.

Hoover later recovered and even danced at his sister’s wedding.

His sister says he still remembers the ordeal:

“He’ll continually say, ‘Why did they want to kill me?’”

Unfortunately, the answer is that Hoover’s healthy organs were worth millions of dollars to the hospital.

New Law Mandates Immediate Pause

Under HB 510, medical personnel must pause organ harvesting if there is:

   • Any change in neurological status

   • Any indication of life

   • Any uncertainty about the accuracy of a death determination

The law allows anyone present, including doctors, nurses, staff, or family members, to request a pause.

Whistleblowers are also granted legal protection from retaliation.

Expands Definition of “Signs of Life”

The legislation goes further by explicitly defining what may constitute signs of life, including:

   • Spontaneous movement

   • Changes in heart rate or blood pressure

   • Attempts to breathe or vocalize

   • Neurological activity

   • Physiological responses suggesting pain

The law highlights a growing controversy: Kentucky’s legal definition of death requires a “total and irreversible cessation of all brain function,” yet commonly used medical guidelines allow patients to be declared dead even when some brain activity remains.

Treasury Rushes to Access High-Risk AI

According to reports, the U.S. Treasury Department is urgently seeking access to Anthropic’s restricted model

Treasury Chief Information Officer Sam Corcos has already briefed cybersecurity teams and is pushing to get access to Mythos “as soon as this week,” according to a source cited by Bloomberg.

The move comes after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell held an emergency meeting with Wall Street executives.

They are warning that this new generation of AI could unleash a wave of cyberattacks on major financial systems, unlike anything seen before.

Bank leaders were reportedly told to take the threat seriously and even begin using the system themselves to hunt for vulnerabilities before bad actors do.

AI That Can Break Into Everything

The concern is not theoretical.

Anthropic’s own internal testing revealed that Mythos can identify and exploit vulnerabilities “in every major operating system and every major web browser when directed by a user to do so.”

In one documented case, the AI:

  • Built a working browser exploit

  • Chained together four separate vulnerabilities

  • Successfully executed the attack

This isn’t just automation, it’s weaponized intelligence capable of finding weaknesses that human experts missed for decades.

Zero-Day Vulnerabilities Discovered

In controlled testing, the model uncovered thousands of previously unknown vulnerabilities, including long-standing flaws buried deep in widely used systems.

Among the most alarming findings:

  • A 27-year-old vulnerability in OpenBSD enabling remote system crashes

  • A 16-year-old flaw in FFmpeg capable of triggering memory corruption

  • A 17-year-old FreeBSD exploit allowing full remote code execution

In one case, the AI independently constructed a complex exploit chain that older systems could only produce with heavy human assistance.

Explosive Leap in Hacking Capability

The scale of improvement over previous AI models is staggering.

In testing against the Firefox web browser:

  • Older AI models produced 2 working exploits

  • Mythos generated 181 working exploits

In broader system testing:

  • The model created hundreds of crash scenarios

  • Delivered results at extremely low cost, sometimes under $50 per exploit

Experts warn that this dramatically lowers the barrier for cyberattacks.

Because of the risks, Mythos is not publicly available.

Hal Lambert, a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump and CEO of Point Bridge Capital, has sparked controversy by warning that former President Barack Obama’s political network is working in coordination with Pope Leo XIV to weaken Republican support among Catholic voters ahead of the midterm elections.

Lambert made the remarks during an appearance on CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip.

He laid out what he described as a coordinated political effort involving the Vatican and top Democrat strategists.

Lambert Alleges Coordinated Political Effort

“This is 100 percent political, ok?” Lambert said.

“This is all about trying to hurt President Trump’s Catholic vote during the midterms and Republicans in the midterms.”

He pointed to a recent visit by longtime Obama strategist David Axelrod to the Vatican, as well as discussions about a potential visit by Obama himself, arguing that the timing aligned with increased criticism of Trump administration policies from Pope Leo.

“If you look at what, play out the dots here,” Lambert said.

“David Axelrod goes and visits Pope Leo last week.

“They’re talking about Obama going to visit Pope Leo.

“All of a sudden, now, Pope Leo is out attacking Trump and the policies of the United States and Israel,” he continued, also referencing statements from multiple Catholic leaders criticizing U.S. immigration policy.

“This is all about trying to get the Catholic vote against Trump,” Lambert added.

CNN Panel Pushes Back

Host Abby Phillip challenged Lambert’s claims, saying his theory had “a lot of flaws.”

She argued that Pope Francis, Leo’s predecessor, had also met with U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance.

Lambert dismissed the comparison.

“There’s no flaws,” he asserted.

“Axelrod is the chief strategist for Obama.

“The pope is saying he’s not political.

“Why is he meeting with the chief strategist for both Obama’s campaigns and in the White House?”

CNN commentator Bakari Sellers offered an alternative explanation, noting that both Axelrod and Pope Leo share ties to Chicago, suggesting the meeting may not have been political.

Lambert rejected that explanation.

A Canadian doctor is sounding the alarm as the Liberal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney faces mounting pressure to halt a controversial plan to begin euthanizing people suffering from mental illness.

At a press conference on Parliament Hill, members of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC), including Montreal physician Peter Blusanovics, urged lawmakers to back legislation aimed at stopping what critics warn is a dangerous and irreversible shift.

“A Bypass Toward Suicide”

Dr. Blusanovics, who has treated patients with mental illness, warned that expanding so-called “Medical Assistance in Dying” (MAiD) to this group would effectively abandon vulnerable Canadians.

“Bill C-218 needs to pass to put a stop to euthanasia for people with mental illness,” he said.

“Basic needs are currently not being met in our health care system.”

He issued a stark warning about what the policy represents:

“Without this bill, we are condoning a bypass towards suicide and blatantly admitting defeat.

“Mental illness needs to be properly identified and treated.”

Blusanovics emphasized that patients struggling with mental illness are not seeking death, but relief.

“I know that offering medical aid in dying provides no solution,” he said.

“Everyone deserves the right to be treated with dignity and humanity.”

Expansion Set for 2027

Canada is currently on track to expand euthanasia access to individuals with mental illness in 2027, following the passage of Bill C-7.

Meanwhile, Garnett Genuis has introduced separate legislation aimed at preventing coercion.

“Allowing ‘medical assistance in dying’ for those with mental illness is not healthcare, that’s not compassion, it’s abandonment.”

The referral, sent to the Department of Justice (DOJ), signals that intelligence officials believe the actions surrounding the original complaint may have crossed legal lines.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard referred the Democrats’ 2019 Trump impeachment “whistleblower” Eric Ciaramella and former Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson to the Justice Department for potential criminal investigation.

Criminal Referrals Target Whistleblower, Inspector General

In the referral, ODNI’s general counsel wrote:

“I want to refer information that may constitute possible criminal activity in violation of federal criminal law committed by one or more former employees of the intelligence community.”

The filing specifically cites briefings involving Atkinson, who played a central role in advancing the complaint to Congress.

According to an intelligence official, the referral is directed at Atkinson and Ciaramella.

Ciaramella was the Democrats’ “whistleblower” whose complaint about President Trump’s July 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky helped trigger impeachment proceedings.

Gabbard: ‘Deep State Actors’ Drove Impeachment Narrative

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released newly declassified documents earlier this week that she says expose a coordinated effort within the intelligence community.

The documents include transcripts of Atkinson’s closed-door testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, which had not previously been shared with the House Judiciary Committee during the impeachment process.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford (R-AR) led the effort to release those materials.

Questions Over ‘Urgent Concern’ Determination

According to ODNI, the newly released records show that Atkinson moved forward with the complaint despite concerns about its credibility and scope.

Officials said Atkinson “failed to conduct basic due diligence and willfully exceeded his statutory jurisdiction” by classifying the complaint as an “urgent concern” for Congress.

During his review, Atkinson determined the whistleblower showed signs of “political bias” and was “in favor of a rival political candidate,” but still advanced the complaint.

The whistleblower’s own filing acknowledged reliance on secondhand information:

“I was not a direct witness to most of the events described.”

The Phone Call That Sparked Impeachment

The complaint centered on President Trump’s July 2019 call with Zelensky.

During the call, Trump noted the suspicious business dealings involving former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

At the time, Hunter Biden had a paid position on the board of Burisma Holdings while Joe Biden was overseeing U.S. policy toward Ukraine.

Hunter Biden was paid tens of thousands of dollars a month to sit on Burisma’s board, despite having no experience in the industry.

Joe Biden later described his role in pressuring Ukraine to remove prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma at the time.

Biden gloated that he withheld a billion dollars in aid money from Ukraine and refused to release it until Shokin was fired.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ … I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden said during a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event.

“Well, son of a b—-, he got fired,” he added.

Trump and Republicans have long argued that pressure to fire Shokin was part of the Biden family’s lucrative influence peddling operation.

As such, it was widely considered to be justified that Trump would discuss the matter with Zelensky.

However, Democrats argued that Trump’s call with Zelensky constituted a quid pro quo tied to U.S. military aid.

The Trump administration denied wrongdoing.

Renewed Scrutiny of Schiff Contact

Republicans at the time also raised concerns that the “whistleblower” had contact with staff for then-House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) before filing the complaint.

Schiff downplayed those interactions during the impeachment process.

Long-Running Dispute Reignited

President Trump was impeached by the House in December 2019 and acquitted by the Senate in February 2020.

House Republicans previously attempted to refer Atkinson and Ciaramella for investigation, but those efforts did not move forward at the time.

With the new criminal referrals now in the hands of the Justice Department, the controversy surrounding the origins of the impeachment inquiry is once again under federal scrutiny.

Disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) could face decades behind bars if he is convicted on rape allegations, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro.

Pirro weighed in as multiple investigations into the former congressman continue.

Swalwell resigned from Congress this week following a wave of sexual misconduct allegations.

His resignation came shortly after he ended his campaign for California governor over the scandal.

The allegations include claims of violent sexual assault spanning multiple jurisdictions.

Pirro Warns of Severe Criminal Consequences

Pirro said the seriousness of the allegations, if proven, could carry significant prison time.

“Let’s just put it this way,” Pirro told the Daily Wire.

“Based upon an allegation that’s already been made of possibly drugging, choking, and then raping a woman.

“You’re talking about decades in prison.”

She confirmed her office is reviewing tips submitted since the allegations became public, while urging potential victims or witnesses to come forward.

“We’ve gotten some, but we’re trying to make sense as to whether or not they involve this jurisdiction or whether they involve a crime at all,” Pirro said.

“We have to go through a process where we actually review that and not just count the numbers.”

Multiple Investigations Underway

One allegation stems from an alleged 2018 incident in West Hollywood, California, while additional claims are reportedly under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office led by Alvin Bragg.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is also investigating the California allegations.

Swalwell has not been formally charged.

However, Pirro is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Accuser Details Alleged Assault

Model Lonna Drewes publicly accused Swalwell of sexual assault, describing the alleged encounter in stark terms.

“He raped me, and he choked me,” Drewes said.

“And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness.

“And I thought I died.

“I did not consent to any sexual activity.”

She also explained why she delayed reporting the incident.

“My delay in taking action against Eric was driven by fear, not doubt,” Drewes added.

“Fear of his political power, his background as an attorney, and his family law enforcement ties.”

Drewes said the allaged raped took place while Swalell’s “wife was pregnant.”

Swalwell Denies Allegations

Despite stepping down from Congress and ending his gubernatorial campaign, Swalwell has denied the criminal accusations.

He said earlier this week that he “will fight the serious, false allegation made against me,” while also acknowledging past “mistakes in judgment.”

In total, five individuals have publicly accused Swalwell of misconduct, including claims involving inappropriate messages and images.

Pirro Points to Broader Accountability Concerns

Pirro also used the moment to raise broader concerns about accountability in Washington.

“The old boy network is alive and well, and it is infuriating, especially with someone like me who’s been prosecuting these cases since the early ’80s,” she said.

“There is silence, and there is secrecy, and unfortunately, there’s a failure by Congress to hold its own members accountable,” Pirro added.

She emphasized the imbalance of power between elected officials and alleged victims.

“But when you think about it, who has more power than someone in Congress?” she said.

“This is an incredible imbalance in the power between a perpetrator and a victim.

“This has to stop.”

As investigations continue across multiple jurisdictions, the legal and political fallout surrounding Swalwell appears far from over.

Senate Democrats have blocked an effort led by Republicans to defund and abolish a national monument honoring far-left labor activist Cesar Chavez, despite recent allegations detailing a pattern of serious misconduct.

The move came after Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced legislation aimed at eliminating federal support for the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument in California.

Cornyn cited a March report outlining disturbing claims of sexual abuse involving women and children.

GOP Push to Remove Monument Falls Short

Cornyn argues that taxpayer dollars should not be used to maintain a site tied to allegations of rape and assault.

“Due to Senator Heinrich’s shameful actions, the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument — a known crime scene where much of Chavez’s abhorrent abuse of women and girls occurred — will continue to operate on the American people’s dime, and it is sickening,” Cornyn said in a statement.

The legislation is titled the “No Funding to Honor Crime Scenes Act.”

It sought to abolish the monument and require the sale of the federal land where it sits, including Chavez’s former home.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, also backed the effort.

“It is mind-boggling that anyone would want to keep Cesar Chavez’s name on a national monument honoring the very spot where he is accused of assaulting women and children,” Lee said.

“Democrats should be ashamed.”

Democrats Block Measure, Cite Historical Context

The effort was blocked by Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM), who acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations but opposed removing the monument.

“That necessarily and profoundly changes Cesar Chavez’s legacy and how he should be remembered,” Heinrich said on the Senate floor.

Heinrich argued that eliminating the site would risk erasing broader historical context tied to the labor movement.

“When we learn shocking or terrible things about our history, the right answer is to tell the truth — never to hide it,” he said.

“I’m concerned that what my colleague from Texas is proposing could do just that: Hide the truth about Cesar Chavez and, unfortunately, the incredible farmworker movement with it.”

Allegations Spark Broader Debate Over Legacy

The renewed scrutiny follows a report alleging that Chavez engaged in a pattern of sexual misconduct, including claims of sexual abuse and grooming involving minors.

The alleged victims reportedly remained silent for years, including after his death.

It sits on property where Chavez lived and where the United Farm Workers movement was founded.

Members of Congress reviewing unredacted Jeffrey Epstein documents are raising alarm over what they describe as deeply disturbing language, coded references, and evidence suggesting “very, very sick” abuse that may extend beyond previously known trafficking crimes.

During an appearance on Newsmax, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said the material lawmakers were permitted to examine under the Epstein Files Transparency Act appears far darker than the public narrative surrounding Epstein’s operation.

Boebert joined a select group of lawmakers granted access to the files.

While members of Congress cannot copy documents or publicly reveal concealed identities, they are able to discuss what they observed in general terms.

She told host Rob Schmitt the documents contain troubling coded language and repeated references to “consumption.”

“This seems that it wasn’t only the trafficking of young girls, as the narrative suggests, but there are code words that suggest Jeffrey Epstein and his associates could maybe even be engaging in some consumption,” Boebert said.

“Is that human consumption?

“Are there code words?”

She cited repeated mentions of “beef jerky” and references tied to a restaurant called The Cannibal appearing within the documents.

“Now, that isn’t a restaurant that is claiming to serve human meat by any means, but some of this just seems like there are a lot of conspiracies that make you wonder,” she added.

Emails Describing Torture and Child Victims

Boebert said the files also contained numerous emails referencing torture and abuse, which she described as a recurring theme in the communications.

“I saw more emails about torture,” Boebert revealed.

“These coded conversations still have a very clear topic — that torture was big.

“It was a big driver for them.

“And these were sick people doing very, very sick things,” she said.

She further alleged that emails referenced extremely young victims and suggested involvement by women connected to Epstein and his convicted sex trafficking accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.

“As you mentioned, there are many women who are involved in this,” Boebert said

“You have folks who were working directly for Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

“And a lot of these women are the ones sending emails saying, ‘Here’s one, 10 years old, 11 years old, 9 years old.’”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) echoed concerns during an appearance on “The Benny Show.”

Luna said her own review of widely circulated Epstein emails left her with serious unanswered questions.

“I looked directly at the emails that have been widely circulated about the ‘Age 11,’ and what I called the ‘Permission to Kill’ email,” Luna said.

“These were emails sent by women to Epstein — many of whom were victims who were allegedly groomed to later be traffickers themselves.”

Luna also referenced unusual terminology appearing in the communications.

“It’s a code word, and it’s weird,” she said, referring to the phrase “‘Jerky’ — whatever that is.”

Lawmakers also remain bound by internal House ethics and decorum rules, meaning Congress itself could still impose discipline even where outside courts cannot intervene.

However, the clause allows for lawmakers to reveal the identities of powerful elites tied to Epstein, provided they do so from the House floor.

The descriptions of the Epstein Files provided by lawmakers are intensifying demands for complete transparency into Epstein’s network, the scope of alleged abuse, and any powerful figures who may have been connected.
