Canada’s rapidly expanding euthanasia regime is facing explosive new scrutiny after a government hearing revealed “experts” are now openly arguing for assisted suicide to be extended to people suffering from depression and eating disorders.
The disturbing exchange took place during a Special Joint Parliamentary Committee hearing on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).
During the hearing, a psychiatrist suggested that even non-terminal mental health conditions could qualify someone for taxpayer-funded, state-assisted death.
Psychiatrist Signals Support for Expanding Euthanasia
During questioning, Conservative MP Andrew Lawton pressed Dr. Mona Gupta on whether individuals with depression or eating disorders should be eligible for euthanasia.
“It depends on the circumstances of the person,” said Gupta, a psychiatrist and professor at the University of Montreal.

An 84-year-old woman recently revealed she was offered “assisted suicide” in a hospital despite not being terminally ill.

Miriam said there was “no way” she would agree to “take measures to end” her life.
In another case, a man was euthanized after suffering from partial blindness, fueling outrage over how far the system has already expanded.

Some regions are now attempting to draw a line.
In Alberta, Premier Danielle Smith and her United Conservative Party have introduced legislation aimed at restricting access to euthanasia.

Vice President JD Vance said he intends to pursue further investigation into unusual language found in the Jeffrey Epstein files, pointing to references like “pizzas” and “grape sodas” that he said appear out of place and warrant scrutiny.
His remarks come as Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche maintains that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has already released all relevant material tied to Epstein, setting up a growing divide between administration officials over whether more remains to be uncovered.

Speaking at a Turning Point USA event, Vance described reviewing documents connected to Epstein and encountering communications that raised red flags.
“One person sent an e-mail to Jeffrey Epstein saying, ‘Oh, they were some really nice, like pizzas or grape sodas or something like that,’” Vance said.
“And I remember it sounding like the Pizzagate conspiracy theory.”

“We have released everything,” Blanche said in a recent appearance on Fox News.
“We reviewed six million pieces of paper!
“We are not sitting on a single piece of paper to be released.”
Blanche added that if new material emerges, it would be made public, but emphasized that the department’s review covered millions of documents, many unrelated to Epstein.
He also noted that members of Congress have the ability to review unredacted materials if they choose.

A new bill in Germany is raising alarm after details emerged showing authorities could block property purchases, including home sales to ordinary buyers, if officials merely suspect the would-be purchaser holds vaguely defined “anti-constitutional” views.
The proposal, pushed by Construction Minister Verena Hubertz of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), would give local authorities a right of first refusal in real estate transactions if they believe a buyer is tied to alleged extremist activity.
Critics warn that the measure opens the door to punishing citizens for their political beliefs without any criminal conviction.
Bill Would Expand State Power Over Property Purchases
According to the draft, municipalities would be allowed to step in and block a sale if they decide a prospective buyer strongly supports what the bill calls “anti-constitutional efforts.”
The proposal would also amend Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution Act so the domestic intelligence agency could share personal data with local authorities reviewing buyers.
That agency, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, or BfV, has already drawn scrutiny for its surveillance of Alternative for Germany (AfD) figures in some states and for past scandals, including the creation of hundreds of fake right-wing extremist accounts.
The bill frames the crackdown as a way of “strengthening the orientation towards the common good” and preventing “social injustices.”
Its stated goal is to stop the “spatial impact of organized crime as well as right-wing, left-wing or religiously motivated extremist activities.”
No Conviction Required to Be Targeted
One of the most controversial parts of the proposal is that no criminal conviction would be required for authorities to act.
The bill defines anti-constitutional efforts as being “characterized by an active, not necessarily combative-aggressive or illegal approach to the realization of their goals.
“They must be objectively capable of producing political effects sooner or later.”
Under that standard, a municipality could intervene if officials believe a buyer supports such efforts and if the purchase threatens the “socially stable resident structure” or the “suitability of the area to meet the social and cultural needs of the population.”
To make that possible, municipalities would be allowed to request information from both the BfV and the Federal Criminal Police Office.
The draft states that “in order to examine whether the buyer meets the subjective elements of the right of first refusal, the municipality must rely on information from the security authorities.”
Critics say that creates a system where a citizen could lose the right to buy property not because of any crime, but because state agencies decide their views are unacceptable.
SPD Points to Right-Wing Settlements as Justification
The SPD-backed measure explicitly points to right-wing settlement strategies as a main reason for the law, citing examples such as Dortmund-Dorstfeld and the village of Jamel.
“Dominance in these areas is not a coincidence, but part of a far-right strategy,” the bill’s backers wrote.
They added, “Handouts on prevention against right-wing extremism always refer to the involvement and activation of the local population.
“However, at a certain point, a counterweight of civil society initiatives can no longer be achieved, which can further promote segregation of the resident population.”
Critics note that both the Right and Left have pursued politically oriented housing projects in Germany.
But while right-wing projects often face heavy media and government scrutiny, left-wing projects have at times received support from NGOs and public initiatives.
That has fueled fears that, in practice, the law would be used far more aggressively against right-leaning dissidents than against left-wing activists.
Critics Warn of an ‘Arbitrary State’
Opponents say the proposal does not just target extremists, it creates a model for denying basic rights based on political suspicion.
Nius pointed to past cases where authorities investigated people for offenses such as the “use of symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations,” including one involving pensioner Stefan Niehoff, who reportedly criticized Germany’s “traffic light” coalition online using comparisons to National Socialism and was fined €825.
There is also growing concern over the political independence of the agencies that would help enforce the law.
Germany’s constitutional protection offices operate within interior ministries, meaning they are not insulated from party influence.
Past assessments from those offices have already been used to exclude AfD candidates from elections and revoke gun licenses.
NIUS columnist Alexander Kissler condemned the bill in blunt terms.
“This whole bill is unbearable,” Kissler wrote.
“If he comes, then liberal democracy will have little say.”
He also argued that what the bill describes as “segregation of residential areas” is actually “freedom of establishment,” warning that “The campaign against freedom has overflowed its banks” and calling the proposal an “entry into the arbitrary state.”

Idaho has taken a rare stand against the growing globalist push for digital identification systems, passing a new law that explicitly blocks government agencies from forcing residents to adopt digital IDs.
Governor Brad Little signed Senate Bill 1299 into law on April 1, 2026, making Idaho one of the few states pushing back as much of the country moves rapidly in the opposite direction.

Vice President JD Vance sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, calling recent comments directed at Hungarian leadership “completely scandalous” during a campaign appearance in Budapest alongside conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

A disturbing case out of Colorado is raising fresh alarms about so-called “assisted suicide,” after multiple family members were arrested for allegedly killing their elderly relative using a barbaric, makeshift euthanasia device.
Prosecutors say the death of 91-year-old Mildred “Milsy” Roller was not a legally sanctioned “assisted death.”
Instead, it was a coordinated act involving family members who stood to gain financially.
Nitrogen Device, Plastic Bag, Planned Death
According to authorities, Roller was found in her room at a care home facility with a plastic bag over her head connected by tubing to a nitrogen gas tank.
Prosecutors say the improvised setup was assembled in advance.
Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty called it “a sad and tragic case.”
Dougherty emphasized that the killing fell outside Colorado’s legal framework for assisted death.
Investigators allege that family members purchased the equipment, discussed the plan via text messages, and were present when Roller died.
Among the evidence cited is a message stating:
“She needs to write a suicide note and she really couldn’t today.”
Police discovered Roller’s body at an assisted living facility, with a suicide note nearby.
Financial Incentives Under Scrutiny
The case is drawing particular attention due to the potential financial benefit tied to Roller’s death.
According to prosecutors, the estate involved more than $650,000 in inheritance that would pass to surviving family members.

“And I do think that appeals to people’s souls, especially young people.”

Data Shows Rebound in Religious Commitment
New data from Barna indicates a significant increase in religious commitment nationwide.
Approximately 66% of adults now say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that remains important in their lives, a sharp rise from 54% in 2021 and 2022.

“Among all churched adults, we found that they attend, on average, 1.6 times per month, or roughly two out of every five weekends.”
At the same time, he highlighted the unusual trend among younger Americans.
“Even so, the fact that young people are showing up more frequently than before is not a typical trend,” Copeland said.
“It’s typically older adults who are the most loyal churchgoers.
“This data represents good news for church leaders and adds to the picture that spiritual renewal is shaping Gen Z and Millennials today.”
