Disturbing newly surfaced records have revealed that Jeffrey Epstein took steps to preserve his genetic material as authorities closed in on his global child trafficking operation.
According to newly released Justice Department files, Epstein stored sperm samples at a California cryobank for years while questions mounted about his activities and connections to powerful figures.
The revelations have added yet another unsettling chapter to the legacy of the convicted sex offender, whose influence extended across politics, finance, academia, and elite social circles before his death in 2019.
Epstein Stored Genetic Material for Years
The New York Times reported that emails and records contained in recently released federal files show Epstein deposited sperm samples with California Cryobank sometime before October 2012.
Records indicate he later renewed a storage agreement in 2016.
According to the report, the contract specified that if Epstein died, control of the stored genetic material would pass to his estate or another authorized representative.
It remains unclear whether the samples still exist or where they may currently be stored.
California Cryobank has stated that it “does not currently store any samples associated with Jeffrey Epstein.”
However, questions remain regarding whether samples may have been transferred to other facilities.
The timeline is particularly notable given that Epstein had already pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from a minor and was facing growing scrutiny years before his 2019 death while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
The report has reignited debate over whether fertility clinics should accept and preserve genetic material from convicted sex offenders.
New Mexico Epstein Investigation Rapidly Expands
The revelations come as a major investigation into Epstein’s operations continues to gain momentum in New Mexico.
A state Truth Commission recently launched an aggressive new phase of its inquiry by issuing subpoenas to multiple government agencies, financial institutions, and academic organizations connected to Epstein’s activities in the state.
Investigators are reportedly seeking records from 14 organizations, including the FBI, the governor’s office, Deutsche Bank, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, the state land commission, and several academic institutions.
The investigation centers on Epstein’s infamous Zorro Ranch property near Santa Fe, where survivors and lawmakers believe critical questions remain unanswered.
The commission was established following the release of millions of pages of Epstein-related documents that renewed concerns about how he was able to operate for decades while maintaining relationships with influential individuals and institutions.
Survivors Point to Wider Network of Influence
At recent hearings, survivors described the lasting impact of the abuse they allegedly endured and urged investigators to look beyond Epstein himself.
Rachel Benavidez told commissioners that she believes Epstein’s activities were enabled by a much broader network operating across multiple sectors of society.
Her testimony echoed growing concerns that individuals and institutions in finance, academia, science, medicine, and government may have failed to act despite repeated warning signs.
Family members connected to the late Virginia Giuffre also addressed the commission as investigators continue gathering testimony and evidence.
Commission members say their objective is not simply to revisit Epstein’s crimes but to determine whether powerful institutions ignored opportunities to intervene.
Focus Shifts to Alleged ‘Power Networks’
New Mexico lawmakers involved in the investigation say they are increasingly focused on what they describe as potential “power networks” that may have allowed Epstein to maintain influence and avoid accountability for years.
State Rep. Andrea Reeb said investigators are seeking detailed records to establish what various agencies and institutions knew about Epstein’s activities and when they knew it.
In addition, state Rep. Marianna Anaya said the inquiry is examining whether systemic failures enabled Epstein’s operations to continue unchecked.
Commission members say future hearings will focus heavily on financial records, government communications, institutional oversight, and decision-making processes that may reveal how Epstein maintained his network for so long.
Pressure Mounts for Broader Investigations
Survivors and advocates argue that New Mexico represents only one part of a much larger story.
Calls are growing for similar investigations in New York, Florida, and other jurisdictions where Epstein maintained properties and relationships with powerful individuals.
Critics warn that focusing solely on Epstein himself risks overlooking the broader network that may have enabled his activities for decades.
With subpoenas now issued and testimony continuing to emerge, pressure is mounting on government agencies, financial institutions, and public officials to explain what they knew, when they knew it, and whether critical warning signs were ignored while victims continued to suffer.
