Canada’s Top Cardinal Begs Government to End Plans to Euthanize Mentally Ill, Warns Nation Is ‘Choosing Death Over Care’

Blogger Comment: Any intelligent person could see this evil coming if they had read thoroughly through the ‘very loosely drafted’ 2016 legislation that was inacted and allowed the Canadian govenment ‘to run roughshod over it’ and manipulate it at will and made into the final law put in force…sadly, those at the top knew this…as it could become a major source of reducing the substantially the Canadian population and where euthanasia now accounts for tens of thousands of Canadian deaths every year and where the numbers are skyrocketing every year now…and it was as though it was pre-planned and part of the Globlaist’s overall agenda to reduce humanity’s numbers to a number that is controllable (400 < 8,500 million)…fact not fiction as that is what the Gloabalists have stated since 1971 publically as one of gtheir main targets come 2030 when they take over the world through their bought and paid fot political leaders (mainly in western countries and Carney and Trudeau just being only two of them if you did not know)…

Canada’s most senior Catholic leader is sounding the alarm over the country’s rapidly expanding euthanasia regime, directly calling on globalist Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal government to reverse course before the system pushes even further into controversial territory.

Cardinal Frank Leo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, issued a blunt warning in a letter addressed to Carney and Liberal MPs.

Leo is urging the ruling Liberal Party to support legislation that would block euthanasia for individuals suffering from mental illness.

Cardinal Calls on Liberal Government to ‘Choose Life’

In his letter, Cardinal Leo framed the issue in stark moral terms, warning that Canada is moving in a dangerous direction.

“I ask you to choose life and not death; to help build a civilization that cares for those suffering and does not eliminate them, but instead surrounds them with dignity, compassion, and love,” Leo wrote.

The cardinal urged Carney to allow Liberal lawmakers to support Bill C-218.

The Conservative-backed measure would stop the planned expansion of “Medical Assistance in Dying” (MAiD) to begin euthanizing those with mental illness.

“As you know, our Catholic faith opposes the taking of any human life, and it is with great disappointment and anguish that we have seen our country expand Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) at a rapid and alarming rate since legislation was passed in 2016,” Leo added.

Conservative Bill Aims to Block Mental Illness Expansion

Bill C-218, introduced by Conservative Party MP Tamara Jansen, would prevent euthanasia from being extended to individuals suffering solely from mental illness.

Jansen has been outspoken about the risks of the expansion, stating that offering assisted death in such cases crosses a dangerous line.

“Not healthcare, that’s not compassion, it’s abandonment,” Jansen said.

Despite growing concern, the expansion remains on track to take effect in 2027 under existing law.

‘Vulnerable Canadians Being Pushed Toward Death’

Cardinal Leo warned that the current trajectory risks putting vulnerable Canadians in harm’s way, particularly those dealing with isolation, suffering, or mental health struggles.

He said there is increasing concern that individuals may feel pressured, whether directly or indirectly, to choose assisted death.

“A society is rightly judged by how it cares for its most vulnerable members,” Leo wrote.

“There is growing anxiety that the normalization and expansion of assisted suicide risks undermining a culture of compassion.”

He also warned that the expansion could weaken investment in palliative care and mental health support while shifting the focus toward ending life rather than preserving it.

Pressure Mounts on Carney to Allow Free Vote

Cardinal Leo specifically called on Carney to allow a “free vote” among Liberal MPs, arguing that the issue goes beyond partisan politics.

“This legislation raises profound questions of conscience that transcend partisan alignment,” he wrote.

However, Carney has reportedly maintained a firm position requiring Liberal MPs to support the party’s stance on euthanasia expansion.

Canada’s Euthanasia Program Under Intensifying Scrutiny

Canada’s assisted suicide system has expanded rapidly since legalization in 2016, with critics pointing to what they describe as a dramatic escalation.

Euthanasia has now become one of the leading causes of death in the country, raising alarms among medical professionals, religious leaders, and advocacy groups.

At the same time, some provinces are moving in different directions.

Alberta is introducing stricter limits, while others, including Ontario, are pushing forward with further expansion.

Additional legislation has also been introduced to address concerns about coercion.

Conservative MP Garnett Genuis introduced Bill C-260, which would prohibit officials from suggesting euthanasia to individuals who have not requested it.

Growing National Divide Over ‘MAiD’ Expansion

The debate is exposing deep divisions across Canada, with critics arguing that the country’s approach to euthanasia is moving far beyond its original intent.

Cardinal Leo’s intervention signals that opposition is intensifying at the highest levels, as concerns grow over the long-term impact of normalizing assisted death, particularly among the most vulnerable.

With the 2027 expansion deadline approaching, pressure is mounting on Carney and his government to reconsider a policy shift that critics say could fundamentally reshape how Canada treats those in crisis.
