A heartbreaking and deeply alarming video has gone viral on social media showing a 7-year-old girl curled beside her 96-year-old great-grandfather during what her family openly described as their “final cuddle” before he was euthanized under the Canadian government’s expanding “assisted suicide” regime.

The clip, viewed millions of times on TikTok, shows the child leaning against the elderly man as he sits rigidly on a couch.

The video was filmed shortly before the 96-year-old man was killed via lethal injection under the government’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program.

The caption reads: “This is my 96-year-old grandpa with my 7-year-old.

“He’s doing MAID soon.

“I tried explaining gently to my daughter that this was the last visit she’d have with him.

“This is what she did the second she walked in. He’s so happy.”

Karly Vavra, the girl’s mother, told People magazine she shared the video both to honor her grandfather and to help normalize euthanasia.

“The feeling is very bittersweet,” she said.

“I look back with smiles and tears.”

She admitted that her daughter “didn’t fully understand these were her last moments with him.”

Her grandfather, however, understood perfectly.

“My grandpa knew those were his last moments with her,” Vavra said.

“Him looking down in that short moment, I believe, was his way of trying to hide emotions as he was a very proud man.”

Days later, he was killed by lethal injection.

Vavra praised him as a beloved figure who drew children to him effortlessly.

She explained that she posted the video because she wanted to celebrate euthanasia.

“I posted this because I truly believe MAiD can be a wonderful thing,” she said.

“Letting people go the way they want, with dignity, and not suffering…

“Seeing how negative some of the responses were made me really want to advocate for the MAiD program.”

According to People, Vavra’s involvement with euthanasia began years earlier when she worked on a case in British Columbia.

“I am a very open, understanding person and believe in ‘your body your choice’ which is why I volunteered,” she said.

Her family has endured staggering loss:

“My parents and aunt have had a harder time because both their mom and dad decided to do MAID this year,” she shared.

“It’s definitely been a rough year.”

Online, however, the reaction was one of overwhelming horror.

More than 10,000 comments poured in condemning the normalization of what many view as a state-sanctioned killing of the elderly.

Vavra explained to her children that their loved ones were being euthanized:

“I explained that Big Papa… was in a lot of pain and that he would be going to meet Big Grandma on Saturday (my grandma also did MAiD this year).

“I explained… he would fall into the best sleep ever but forever.”

As critics note, even families who describe themselves as nonreligious increasingly use spiritual language, such as “meeting Grandma,” to soften the reality of deliberate life-ending injections.

This is Canada’s new normal as children are now saying goodbye, not because death has come, but because it has been scheduled.

Moments that could have been shared later are instead framed as “last moments,” by choice.

Vavra acknowledged the emotional weight: “Seeing her link arms with him was very touching, but of course very painful.

“Both loving each other so much.

“I wish we could have had him forever.”

As many commenters pointed out, he couldn’t live forever, but they could have had him longer.

Privacy advocates are sounding the alarm over the most sweeping attempt at digital control ever proposed in a Western democracy, as UK lawmakers advance plans to roll out an unprecedented public monitoring program under the guise of “protecting children’s well-being.”

A new set of amendments quietly slipped into the United Kingdom’s Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill would force nearly all smartphones and tablets sold in the country to come preloaded with tamper-proof government-mandated surveillance software.

Under the legislation, the monitoring cannot be removed, disabled, or opted out of.

The proposals appear under a deceptively benign section titled “Action to promote the well-being of children by combating child sexual abuse material (CSAM).”

But the text reveals an unprecedented expansion of state power over private devices.

The amendment requires that any “relevant device supplied for use in the UK must have installed tamper-proof system software which is highly effective at preventing the recording, transmitting (by any means, including livestreaming) and viewing of CSAM using that device.”

In other words, the only way such a system can function is by scanning every single photo, video, livestream, and file on a user’s device, continuously, in the background, without consent.

Manufacturers, importers, and distributors would be legally required to ensure all internet-connected smartphones and tablets comply.

Enforcement would occur “as if the CSAM requirement was a security requirement for the purposes of Part 1 of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022.”

In other words, this is client-side scanning on a national scale.

This government-mandated surveillance apparatus will be built into the operating system of every single personal device used by the general public.

A System That Must Scan Everything

To “prevent the recording, transmitting … and viewing” of illegal content, software must analyze all content, including encrypted photos, private videos, and messages never shared with anyone.

There is no technological workaround.

The proposal functionally demands:

• Always-on device monitoring
• Automated classification of private content
• The erosion of end-to-end encryption
• No ability for the user to disable or refuse the scanning

This is not a parental-control tool, however.

It is an inspection system that treats every citizen’s device as a potential crime scene.

And real-world data shows how flawed such systems already are.

In 2024, German authorities reported that nearly 50 percent, 99,375 out of 205,728, of all CSAM “tips” forwarded to them, from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), were false positives.

Those scans came from companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Google under the existing “Chat Control 1.0” model.

Now imagine error-prone scanning not just on messages sent across a platform, but on every file on your phone.

A Surveillance Framework Far Beyond “Child Protection”

The same bill contains additional amendments that quietly erect an interconnected digital-identity regime for minors:

• Pages 19–20: VPN providers must apply “age assurance” to determine if a user is a child, effectively forcing identity verification for all users to access privacy tools.

• Page 21: All regulated social media platforms must impose “highly-effective age assurance measures” to block under-16s entirely.

Combined with mandatory device-level scanning, this forms the legal groundwork for a fully monitored, fully verified, fully trackable digital environment.

While marketed as “protecting children,” these measures redefine privacy as a conditional privilege that exists only if the state allows it.

A System Built for Expansion

Unlike the EU’s controversial “Chat Control” plan, which would scan communications as they pass through messaging platforms, the UK proposal goes much further.

This would embed scanning directly into every personal device, meaning the government (and any future leadership) would already have the legal and technical infrastructure needed to analyze:

• Political content
• Medical information
• Religious material
• Private messages
• Encrypted communications
• Personal photos stored offline

Once the architecture is in place, expanding the categories of “prohibited” material becomes as simple as changing a definition.

Surveillance Creep in the UK Is Accelerating

This proposal is not emerging in a vacuum.

The UK is already:

• Arresting people for online posts and private messages
• Rolling out real-time facial recognition across cities
• Expanding speech-policing powers under vague “harmful content” standards
• Sharing data across government agencies with little transparency

Now lawmakers want the power to examine your personal photos and videos before you even send them.

A democratic nation is openly considering turning every phone and tablet into a permanent government-approved scanning device, all under the banner of “children’s well-being.”

The only thing standing between the British public and a full-scale, baked-in surveillance state is whether socialist Labour Party-controlled Parliament approves this amendment.

Britain’s top military officer is openly warning the public to prepare for the unthinkable sacrifice of losing their “sons and daughters” in World War III, as the “whole of [the] nation” must be ready to “fight” in direct conflict with Russia.

The alarming remarks mark one of the most explicit acknowledgments yet that Western governments are bracing their populations for large-scale war.

Air Chief Marshal Sir. Richard Knighton, the UK Chief of Defence Staff, delivered the stark prediction during a lecture at London’s RUSI think tank, insisting that “More families will know what sacrifice for our nation means.”

Knighton said the likelihood of Vladimir Putin launching an assault on Britain is “slim” but growing steadily, a familiar refrain from Western leaders who continue escalating military commitments abroad while warning of impending conflict at home.

“The situation is more dangerous than I have known during my career, and the price of peace is rising,” the British defense chief said.

“Our response needs to go beyond simply strengthening our armed forces.

“It needs a whole-of-nation response that builds our defense industrial capacity, grows the skills we need, harnesses the power of the institutions we will need in wartime, and ensures and increases the resilience of society and the infrastructure that supports it.”

His comments echoed recent remarks from French General Fabien Mandon.

As Slay News reported, Gen. Mandon caused political uproar last month when he declared that the French public must accept that the nation will “lose its children” in a war with Russia.

Mandon warned: “If our country falters because it is not prepared to accept – let’s be honest – to lose its children, to suffer economically because defense production will take precedence, then we are at risk.”

Knighton agreed, saying, “Fabien Mandon was right.

“More people being ready to fight for their country.”

He added that “Sons and daughters. Colleagues. Veterans. …will all have a role to play.

“To build. To serve. And if necessary, to fight.

“And more families will know what sacrifice for our nation means.”

The message was unmistakable: the British public must prepare for mobilization against a nuclear powerhouse.

Britain Falling Behind Germany, France, and Poland in War Preparations, Knighton Says

The military chief suggested Britain faces the same threat as Germany.

However, he noted that Germany is taking more aggressive steps to prepare its population for conflict, including reintroducing elements of national service and ramping up defense spending.

Knighton pointed to Berlin’s pledge to reach 3.5 percent of GDP on defense by 2029 and Poland’s already staggering 4.2 percent.

The UK’s ruling socialist Labour Party has promised to hit 2.5 percent by 2027, but Knighton hinted that this is nowhere near enough.

He also noted that “France and Germany [have] return[ed] to a form of national service.”

Then came the pointed jab at the Treasury:

“The threat in the UK isn’t really any different to the threat in Germany, for example.”

Illinois Democrat Governor JB Pritzker signed a sweeping “assisted suicide” bill on Friday, drawing sharp condemnation from pro-life advocates.

Critics warn that the state is now poised to become a regional hub for what they call “suicide tourism.”

The law permits physicians to prescribe lethal drugs to patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses and given less than six months to live.

The Democrat-controlled state Senate passed the bill in a 30–27 vote just after midnight on Halloween, and it has sat on Pritzker’s desk for more than a month.

“I have been deeply impacted by the stories of Illinoisans or their loved ones that have suffered from a devastating terminal illness, and I have been moved by their dedication to standing up for freedom and choice at the end of life in the midst of personal heartbreak,” Pritzker said after signing the measure…(Blogger comment “nice words”)

Conservative and religious liberty advocates, however, say the law goes far beyond what supporters claim.

They warn it will force doctors to participate in, promote, or refer patients for lethal prescriptions, even when doing so violates deeply held moral or religious beliefs.

Christian hospitals would also be barred from disciplining or removing employees who take part in assisted suicides.

The Thomas More Society mourned the governor’s decision.

“This is a dark and sorrowful day for Illinois,” said Thomas Olp, the pro-life nonprofit group’s executive vice president.

“When the state signals that some lives are no longer worth living, the most vulnerable pay the price.”

“Instead of offering true compassion, support, and care, this law offers a fatal prescription.

“That is not mercy. It is abandonment.”

The organization warned that the elderly, disabled, and medically fragile will face heightened danger under the new regime.

“By legalizing physician-assisted suicide, the Land of Lincoln has crossed a profound moral and legal red line.

“As signed into law, this fatal misstep places vulnerable lives at risk, tramples the inherent dignity of human life, and erodes the foundational conscience rights of medical professionals and religious medical practices.”

Illinois is now the 12th state in the country to legalize assisted suicide, and the first in the Midwest.

It raises immediate fears that patients from surrounding states will travel to Illinois to obtain lethal prescriptions.

Pressure Builds in Other States in Push to Expand End-of-Life Laws

Illinois’ move comes as other Democrat-led states are advancing similar legislation, part of a growing national trend previously reported on by Slay News.

In New Jersey, lawmakers have been pushing to loosen restrictions and dramatically expand eligibility under the state’s assisted-suicide framework, proposals that sparked intense backlash from medical ethicists, disability advocates, and religious organizations.

At the time, critics warned that New Jersey lawmakers were attempting to normalize assisted suicide as a government-endorsed “solution” for patients who are suffering not only from terminal illness, but from financial pressure, social isolation, or untreated mental health conditions.

Opponents argued that such proposals would place the vulnerable at even greater risk while incentivizing the state’s healthcare system to prioritize cheaper lethal drugs over long-term treatment.

Like Illinois, New Jersey lawmakers are hoping that the Garden State will become a hub for “suicide tourism.”

With Illinois now enacting its own law, pro-life groups argue the pressure on other blue states, including New Jersey, will only intensify, accelerating what they describe as a coordinated national campaign to redefine medical care through the lens of “death with dignity.”

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities is under fire after a parental advocacy group exposed a university-backed project that openly targets the white “family system” and describes “whiteness” as a societal disease that must be eliminated through re-education and ideological conditioning.

The findings come even as President Donald Trump’s administration continues dismantling far-left DEI structures across government and public institutions.

Yet many of these programs remain embedded in federally funded universities.

UMN alone received $628 million in federal research awards in 2024.

The group Defending Education uncovered that the university’s Culture and Family Lab, part of its Institute of Child Development, hosts an entire resource hub titled “Whiteness Pandemic Resources for Parents, Educators, and other Caregivers.”

The premise is unambiguous and asserts that American children raised in white families are supposedly incubating racism from birth.

One line from the site states:

“At birth, young children growing up in white families begin to be socialized into the culture of whiteness, making the family system one of the most powerful systems involved in systemic racism.”

The resource demands that white parents “self-reflect, re-educate [themselves], and act,” urges the adoption of “courageous antiracist parenting,” and recommends that caregivers “listen to, take seriously, and follow the stories and recommendations” of Black Lives Matter while “humanizing victims of police brutality and racism — such as Mr. George Floyd.”

It also directs parents to openly political materials for children, pushing discussions about “race, racism, white privilege, and antiracism.”

“Whiteness” Treated as a Pathogen

Much of the material draws from a 2021 paper by lab director Gail Ferguson, titled “The whiteness pandemic behind the racism pandemic,” published in American Psychologist and dedicated to George Floyd.

The paper claims:

“Family socialization into the centuries-old culture of whiteness — involving colorblindness, passivity, and fragility — perpetrates and perpetuates U.S. racism, reflecting an insidious whiteness pandemic.”

It goes even further, referring to “color-evasion and power-evasion” as “pathogens of the whiteness pandemic” that white parents unknowingly transmit to their children unless they undertake the “preventive measures” of antiracist indoctrination.

Researchers assessed white mothers based on their emotional reactions to George Floyd’s death, suggesting that a lack of grief or a failure to discuss “systemic racism” with children might indicate complicity in the spread of “whiteness.”

Mothers who taught “power-conscious” narratives or discussed Black Lives Matter with their children were considered desirable examples.

The authors argue white students must receive mandatory racial ideology training “especially at a young age,” insisting that dismantling colorblindness requires not just saying “the right things” but learning how to “show up for racial justice.”

The research sample consisted of 392 white mothers, heavily skewed toward the political left, with 51% identifying as somewhat or very liberal, and over 91% holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Federal Dollars Fueled the Project

The paper acknowledges support from the National Institute of Mental Health, meaning federal dollars, approved under the Biden administration, helped fund the project’s development and publication.

When pressed by National Review, the University of Minnesota defended the initiative, claiming it remains:

“steadfast in its commitment to the principles of academic freedom.”

NIMH did not respond to inquiries.

Parental Advocates Call for Accountability

Rhyen Staley of Defending Education criticized the university for legitimizing political ideology under the guise of scholarship:

“This far-left programming at a major public university is another example of how ingrained DEI is in higher education and is not going away any time soon.”

Staley added:

“It is not only concerning that these programs appear to still be up and running, but that absurd ideas like ‘whiteness’ also gain legitimacy through dubious activist-academic ‘scholarship.’

“Universities must end this nonsense yesterday.”

A Larger Pattern

This program’s survival illustrates the challenge facing states and federal officials working to dismantle entrenched DEI bureaucracy.

Despite public rejection of these ideologies, they remain deeply embedded in university systems, often protected by tenure, administrative layers, federal grants, and activist academic departments.

Australia’s unprecedented move to delete more than one million social media accounts belonging to users under 16 is already sparking global controversy, but critics say the real story is far more alarming.

To enforce the ban, every adult in Australia will be forced to prove they are over 16 to access social media.

That means Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, and X will have no way to comply unless they begin requiring full age verification from every Australian citizen who uses their platforms.

The new law, which came into effect on Wednesday, is creating what experts warn is a de facto national digital ID system controlled by Big Tech and rubber-stamped by the government.

The government argues that the law will not force citizens to upload their state-issued ID to social media platforms.

However, the companies that run the platforms now have a legal obligation to verify the age of every Australian citizen who uses their services.

A Massive ID Dragnet Masquerading as “Child Protection”

Supporters say the ban will “protect children” from harmful content.

But enforcing it requires something far more sweeping:

  • There is no technological mechanism to block minors without forcing adults to prove they are adults.

  • Companies can only verify age by requiring legal ID, biometric scans, or government-backed digital identity.

  • Australia already has a federal Digital ID scheme in development, and critics say this law is the “backdoor” that forces its adoption.

Even privacy experts who support regulation admit the math doesn’t lie:

McPherson was killed by lethal injection at just 47 years old.

He was euthanized under Canada’s taxpayer-funded Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), which is part of the nation’s socialized healthcare system.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) framed his death in strikingly upbeat language, writing that “McPherson died by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), after battling several health complications.”

Predictably, the broadcaster presented MAiD as compassionate healthcare rather than what it is: Canada’s government-endorsed expansion of “assisted suicide” into nearly every corner of public life.

CBC even chose to spotlight a quote from McPherson’s mother that reinforces the government’s narrative.

“Over the last five years, he was, his body was shutting down,” Judy McPherson told the CBC.

“He came to the house and he explained to his dad, annoyed that he was running out of steam.

“As his mom and dad, you could see things were getting worse and worse.

“But I have to be very honest, it was the most peaceful way for him to go to sleep.”

For disability rights advocates, who have spent years warning that Canada is pressuring vulnerable people into euthanasia, this is exactly the problem.

A man who spent his life inspiring others with disabilities is now being used to promote a narrative they have fought “valiantly — even desperately — against.”

Despite the severity of the international condemnation, CBC covered the UN rebuke only once, while publishing dozens of articles casting euthanasia in a glowing, personalized, and sympathetic light that tracks perfectly with the messaging of activist groups like Dying with Dignity.

CBC’s obituary highlights McPherson’s impressive achievements:

  • a nationally ranked sledge hockey player

  • a star of CBC’s Push, which chronicled friends “navigating their lives in wheelchairs”

  • an athlete who overcame a devastating spinal injury at age 19

His story was one of grit, perseverance, and hope, a living reminder that disability does not mean despair.

But the way Canada now frames his death tells a different story.

It signals to other struggling people with disabilities that death is not only an option but a respectable, peaceful “solution.”

Yet, that is exactly what disability advocates have warned is happening.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has unveiled its newest blueprint for “digital health transformation,” and critics warn it’s the clearest signal yet that the unelected global body intends to normalize trackable wearables, AI-driven monitoring, and centralized “health” data control for the world’s population.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has delivered one of the most explosive escalations in rhetoric yet, openly urging Europe to prepare for a full-scale World War III with Russia, a scenario he says could reach “every home and every workplace.”

The remarks came during a Thursday speech in Berlin, where the former Dutch prime minister painted a doomsday picture of Europe on the brink and insisted NATO nations must brace for a conflict on the scale of World War II.

Rutte’s message was nothing short of apocalyptic.

He warned that “dark forces of oppression are on the march again” and claimed Europe is facing a “scale of war our grandparents or great-grandparents endured.”

Rutte,  then declared:

“We must all accept that we must act to defend our way of life, now.

“Because this year, Russia has become even more brazen, reckless, and ruthless toward NATO and toward Ukraine.

“Russia’s economy is now geared to wage war, not to make its people prosperous.

“Russia is spending nearly 40 per cent of its budget on aggression, and around 70 per cent of all machine tools in Russia are used in military production.

“Taxes are going up, inflation has skyrocketed, and gas is rationed.

“How is Putin able to maintain his war against Ukraine?

“The answer is China. China is Russia’s lifeline.

“China wants to prevent its ally from losing in Ukraine,” Rutte warned.

“Without China’s support, Russia could not continue to wage this war.

“For instance, around 80 per cent of critical electronic components in Russian drones and other systems are made in China.

“So when civilians are made in Kyiv or Kharkiv, Chinese technology is often inside the weapons that kill them.

“NATO’s own defences can hold for now, but with its economy dedicated to war, Russia could be ready to use military force against NATO within five years.

“How deterrence is achieved, through retaliation, through pre-emptive strike, this is something we have to analyse deeply because there could be in the future even more pressure on this.”

Rutte then issued a sweeping warning about what such a conflict would mean:

“Destruction, mass mobilisation, millions displaced.

“Widespread suffering and extreme losses.”

Canada’s euthanasia crisis has now reached inside federal prisons, with new statistics revealing that the government has now begun euthanizing prisoners under the nation’s state-sanctioned “assisted suicide” program.

The new data revealed that at least 15 federal prison inmates were euthanized under Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) scheme since 2018.

The information comes from an Order Paper response showing that Correctional Service Canada approved MAiD deaths for inmates before their sentences were completed.

The finding is raising serious questions about coercion, oversight, and the rapid normalization of euthanasia inside government institutions.

The numbers show a grim escalation, revealing that inmated has been euthanized every year since the expansion emerged in 2018.

The documents leave out key details, including the identities of the inmates, the prisons where the deaths occurred, or whether the individuals were male or female.

The government also refused to clarify whether each case fell under Track 1 MAiD (terminal or serious illness) or Track 2.

Track 2 is the far more controversial category permitting euthanasia even when natural death is not foreseeable, in situations such as depression or poverty.

What is clear is that since legalization, 67 federal inmates have applied for MAiD, with requests rising sharply in the past two years.

Canada’s euthanasia program, introduced in 2016 under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has expanded at a pace unmatched anywhere in the world.

According to a new report from the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, Canada has euthanized 90,000 people since 2016.

The number is a staggering figure for a country of only 40 million people.
